Finishing the bridge and doing it again.

Hi Jordan/Austin/Leah/Alan,
My name is Victor, I am 20 years old, I’m from Brazil and i weight 197,31lbs.
I finished the SSLP with a 285 Lbs Squat, a 300 Lbs Deadlift, a 175Lbs Bench and a 110Lbs Press. After I Finished the SSLP, i decided to do The Bridge 1,0 while cutting, as i’m feeling a little fat. I’m starting week 8 today and got awesome results. My squat is know 305x1@8,
My Deadlift is 330x1@8, my Bench is 200x1@8 and my press is 125x1@8. As it was my first experience with RPE, i feel like, if I’ve already knew it before doing the Bridge, I would have gotten greater results. Based on that, I decided that I would repeat the Bridge one more time. So, i have some questions.

1- After i finish week 8, should i take one week out or just start week 1 again right away?

2- I like to play basketball on sundays, is it okay if i play basketball instead of doing the GPP? And from week 1 to 4, instead of doing it on friday, i play basketball on sunday, or i do the fiday gpp anda play basketball?

3- I’m cutting with a slow pace, During the bridge I only lost 6,6Lbs and i want to get to at least 176lbs before starting to gain weight again, after doing the bridge for the second time, wich program do you suggest? The gpp one? The hipertrophy one?

4- Is it better to do the hipertrophy while in a cut or in a bulk?

Really love your work guys, thanks to you guys I discoverd Powerlifting and am having a lot of fun.

Hi Victor,

Thanks for the post.

  1. I would not recommend a week off.

  2. Yes, that’s fine to sub basketball for GPP and you can do it on Sunday.

  3. I’m not sure how tall you are or how aggressive the weight cut needs to be so I’ll reserve judgement on that one.

  4. Ideally it’d be done while gaining weight for maximum hypertrophy.

Can’t be sure but I believe he was asking about removing the low stress week 1 and jumping right to week 2, instead of taking a week off.

For question 1 are you asking if you should remove week 1 from the second run of the bridge and jump right into week 2? If so I don’t see an issue with this as weeks 1 & 8 are both low stress (this is what I was planning on doing). Or are you asking if you should take a full week of rest (no lifting)? The latter sounds like a bad idea.

I’m 1,75m and I am Weighting 197,31Lbs as said in the post. My goal for weight is to get to 176Lbs and then start to bulk up again. Not very agressive, I’m okay with losing weight slowly, like 4lbs per month.

If that is the case I think that is reasonable, though I may prefer 2 back to back low stress weeks at times. I would ask for clarification.

Copy that. I don’t think there are any special considerations here then.

So, for my goal of losing weight, do you recommend the gpp program or the hipertrophy program, maybe both?

Both are reasonable options, and there’s no magic “order” you have to do them in.
