"Get Set" App

Hi,

I am wondering if you have an priors on the “Get Set” app established by the IOC? It was the focus of my sports medicine lab, and the app claimed to reduce the risk of injuries by 50%. My teacher seems hesitant about their claims, and so am I. I’m rather uneducated on the topic, so I want to reserve further judgment till I learn more.

I appreciate any thoughts!

Thank you.

Thanks for the question! I’d not heard of the app previously. Just downloaded it and will check it out over the coming weeks. Initial impression … not sure how they are claiming injury “prevention”. I see exercises for body regions and then a link to go to their website about injuries. The linked website is just body regions sites with likely injury diagnoses, management, and prognosis.

Maybe I’m missing something though …

Most of the data on injury risk reduction is related to load/fatigue management, stress management, sleep, and dietary intake.

Do you have any studies on these two? What role does diet play in injury risk?

Hi,

Thank you for responding! I’m sorry for the late response.

Here is an example of the claim (albeit it might not be stated on the app):

I hope this link is acceptable!

Sure. You will want to review information on RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome).
