“injury prevention screening”

came across this today whilst in class, thought it was a good read with good references. Discuz.

@Dhruv4 , what are your thoughts about the article? Expressing your takeaway points from the article will help evoke a discussion on the matter.

I’ve been following Bahr and I regularly cite this article when discussing injuries. It’s interesting because if you look through pubmed and his previous citations - his stance has changed to what you read in the OP article (as it should if a person is regularly reading the research).

So what I got out of that article is basically that other than true medical conditions(pathologies, diseases, cancers, etc) screens in the context of injury reduction doesn’t have much support to validate its use in a clinical setting but there is some use for it for hamstring and or ACL “injury prevention”.
As stated the Hewett et al study showed some decent support even though there was a small sample size for ACL screening.
In my opinion a way to go about screening if needed would be to discuss past or current “injuries” that the patient may have in order to better gauge the approach on how to train them or rehab them.

I’ve been telling people for a long time:

Want to prevent getting injured in (insert sport)…stop playing…

That’ll be $100…
