Hip/back pain — here’s the plan

Ok, so I posted a couple months ago about hip/lower back pain (quadratus lumboris? Idk) I had developed that was especially bad during deadlifting but really lingered even on off days. This started to get a bit better but has come back in full force as I started to deadlift heavy again.

i am taking some of the advice I have read here and planning to back off load for about 8 weeks significantly and focus on volume.

The plan for squats would be something like:
8@rpe 6, 8@rpe 7, 3 sets 8@rpe 8 or something like that. I am currently around 275-285 for sets of 5, so we are talking dropping into the 225 range. Would do something similar with deadlifts and add in a beltless paused squat variation somewhere in the 6 rep range.

does this sound like a reasonable plan to see if I can work through this and build up some volume?

the only good news is I’ve been able to focus and my bench and press and get them semi respectable. But I was a stones throw from a 405 deadlift and that dream seems to be dead in the water currently.

open to any advice.

Sorry to hear about hip/lower back issue. How has everything been working out since implementing the plan?
