Do you guys work up to sprinting speed, then hop off the treadmill to rest, then hop back on at sprinting speed, or do you work up to sprinting speed, then reduce to a jog, then work back up?
Sounds dangerous to try that at full speed.
This is how youtube-fitness-bloopers are born.
google “deadmill treadmill hiit” videos.
There’s a way to use an unplugged (or not functional) treadmill as a pushing sled/prowler type workout.
I have never done myself, but have spoken with people who have and its doable.
For doing HIIT on a treadmill, I think it’s probably safer to be at a fast walking speed and then significantly increase the incline for the “sprint” portion, then back to your starting incline for the remainder.
