First, thank you very much for all the content you’ve posted here.
These issues in the topic header are not related. I’ve had issues with my IT band (I’ve assumed it is something to do with the IT band, I could be very wrong) for the last 5 weeks with varying degrees of pain. The pain is usually a dull ache, it resides in the slightly above the centre between the patellar and the hip joint. It’s sometimes painful when I walk up the stairs, however once I start moving it seems to get better (only light activity). It’s worse in the morning and when I’ve been sitting for a long time, again walking seems to help it. However, when I squat it seems to get gradually worse as I get heavier. This happens for a couple of sessions until I have to skip a squat session and then this cycle happens again. The deadlift has yet to affect it.
The tempo squats are in relation to the bridge 1 program. I’m unsure how much weight others can use on the 303 tempo squats for sets of 8 and maybe I’m being a pussy but 100kg which constitutes around 55% of my 1rm if not less. Is this usual?
From your description “slightly above the centre between the patellar and the hip joint” it’s really difficult to tell whether this is in the IT band region.
Apologies, I thought I hadn’t explained myself very well. It’s around the neck of femur (I’ve also thought maybe it was bursitis) and painful down 2 inches, going roughly along where the IT band lies. The pain also radiates down where the IT band resides when it’s more painful than usual.
Yeah, this sounds like it may be more of a trochanteric bursitis / pain syndrome. When people talk about IT band pain it typically tends to be a bit more distal (i.e., closer to the knee joint on the lateral side).
Yeah I had read this but I’m never certain of the credibility of the sources. I’ve not been able to find any treatments for it and I’m assuming you not saying anything about it means there’s not a clear path and its just conservative management from here. Thanks for your input anyway, it’s appreciated.
