Jordan - How did you attain that physique?

You have a bodybuilder’s physique. What does your training look like?

I train 4 days per week with mostly compound lifts and do 1-2 days of pure GPP work per week. I don’t really have a set training template that I use year round and my training has evolved over the years.

Right now, my training looks like this:

Day 1
SSB squat w belt 8 @ RPE 7-8 x 3 sets
High Incline bench x 8 @ 8 x 3 sets
DB Press x 15 @ 9, 2 back off sets of 15

Day 2
2" deficit DL x 8 @ 7-8 x 3 sets
Touch and go bench x 8 @ 8 x 3 sets
Split squats x 12 x 3 sets

Day 3
Low incline bench x 10 @ 8 x 3 sets
Belt Squat x 10 @ 8 x 3
DB Flat bench x 15 @ 9, 2 back off sets of 15

Day 4
RDL x 10 @ 7-8 x 3 sets
Swiss bar x 12 @ 9 x 3 sets
Box step ups x 12 @ 7-8 x 3 sets

This is a hypertrophy-focused block that I’ll have been on for ~4 weeks before pivoting back to my more typical strength work.

Awesome! I’m doing a lot more sets than you, but at lower weights. I will be stepping it up.

I don’t know if this is appropriate to ask, but are you on TRT, given that you are over 30? I would like to look like you without the aid of TRT, but don’t know if that’s possible.

Could you explain to us where this idea came from? That being over 30 years old somehow necessitates going on TRT?

I hear that testosterone starts to drop after age 30.

That is generally physiologic, rather than a pathologic situation needing treatment.

The overwhelming majority of people do not need testosterone replacement therapy, because they do not meet clinical diagnostic criteria for hypogonadism – and this is a good thing.

Of course, this doesn’t stop lots of people (including some less-than-intelligent people in the strength training community) for using it / recommending it inappropriately. Being over 30 does not make you “old”, and does not mean you need testosterone unless there are suggestive signs/symptoms and a laboratory evaluation consistent with the diagnosis of hypogonadism (i.e., not just a T level “lower than you want it to be”).

We recommend you train hard and consistently for the next 15 years, and you’ll just have to see where you end up. You’ll probably get much further than you expect.

I just want to know if it’s possible to achieve a physique like Jordan’s without the aid of injected testosterone.

Why no dedicated upper back work?

I like this response Austin. Since we are taking about current training, are you doing your own programming Austin? Based on your logs, looks like you do comp lifts Mon and Tues and variants Thurs and Fri with bench thrown in there 2-3 days a week. But how are you determining your waves of volume/intensity?

I do that in my GPP work. Again- and I can’t stress this enough - my training changes wildly over the course of a year

For some people, sure. For others, no. For others still, they’ll surpass me with and without anabolic steroids.

Well, let’s see where my genetic potential takes me.

I saw the video of Jordan at the Strongman competition. I thought he was built more like an athlete than a bodybuilder. That said he doesn’t carry a lot of extra fat so I could see why bodybuilder would cross somebody’s mind. I think bodybuilders have an exaggerated look that looks a bit unnatural. Jordan just looked like an athlete, if you said he was a safety in the NFL based off his look I could believe it.

What does your GPP day look like @Jordan_Feigenbaum

Again, it depends on the phase of my training but right now I’m doing HIIT 2x/wk, LISS 1x/wk, some upper back work (3 sets @ 9), ab work (rollouts or L sits), and that’s about it.

Y’all should stop worrying about what Jordan does, unless you’re Jordan. Lol.

aww, c’mon, it’s interesting except for that testosterone question

Well, Jordan is one of God’s chosen people. It only stands to reason he would have a superior physique.

We need to find the person who is telling people that any sort of aesthetic body composition isn’t achievable without TRT and stop them. And whoever says you can’t achieve anything physically impressive after 30 should be ignored. My wife and I both look better now in our mid 30s than when we were in college.

Sure, I get what you’re saying. The muscle mass I do have isn’t by accident or happenstance, but it may not be realistic for you to attain with or without anabolics. Alternatively, you may easily surpass me depending on your luck of the draw genetically. Please refrain from posting more pictures of me on my own forum. If I want to post them, I will

I find that most people discussing hormones have no idea what they’re talking about and a good rule of thumb is to ignore individuals who aren’t endocrinologists or otherwise specially trained.
