LBM and bench decreases

Currently running the LBP Rehab template for some sciatica. Since the bench and the press do not tend to upset my symptoms at all, and my powerlifting is on hold until my symptoms improve, I have a crazy idea: I want to train my press. I have the 12 week press template but have not run it yet. Would it be overstepping my bounds to run the pressing plug-in’s (and subsequent bench plug-in’s) alongside the low back rehab? I would plan on just not doing the squat/deadlift work for the fourth day.
