Lingering Shoulder Issues on the Press

Hi All,

A while back I developed some persistent, nagging shoulder pain after a bad snatch. I have finally gotten back to where pressing overhead is tolerable again. I am coming off of a fairly long layoff due to some life events and utilizing the Beginner Template as an on-ramp. I experience zero pain on the bench press. On the strict press, pain is almost completely gone, however I am still noticing a couple of issues:

  1. Full lockout feels weak or “loose” / janky proprioception. I imagine this will just go away after I spend more time pressing.
  2. At moderately heavy loads, the affected shoulder feels like something is “pinching” going into lockout. It’s not super “painful” exactly, it just uncomfortable

Is this pinching issue something that should just go away with time?

Thanks

I expect it will improve with time, but you could consider incorporating some additional movement variations for the area, including both unilateral and bilateral pressing/pulling movements at various angles (flat, incline, overhead) to build some additional resiliency.
