Lp(a) above normal range

Hello,

I am a 31-year-old male, 170 cm tall, 74 kg, with a waist circumference of 75 cm, low body fat. I follow your General Strength and Conditioning program and maintain a relatively healthy diet.

My recent lipid-related labs are: Total cholesterol: 167 mg/dL. LDL-C: 100 mg/dL. HDL-C: 51 mg/dL. Triglycerides: 72 mg/dL. Non-HDL-C: 116 mg/dL. ApoB: 80 mg/dL. Lipoprotein(a): 139 nmol/L. I have no known cardiovascular disease. Blood pressure is normal. I do not smoke or drink.

What would you recommend given my Lp(a) number?

  1. Continue lifestyle measures and try to lower LDL/ApoB further with diet and possibly supplements?

  2. Start statin therapy in the near future to maximise the Lipid profile?

  3. Obtain a coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan and use the result to guide treatment decisions?

  4. Simply monitor risk factors and wait for the upcoming Lp(a)-lowering studies?

Howdy,

Thanks for signing up for the forum and posting your question here. As you know, we discuss Lipoprotein(a), including some thoughts on management, here:

For your specific case, that is better handled by a consultation to address other factos related to your personal medical history, preferences, as well as discuss risks, benefits, and so on. We cannot do this over the forum for an individual.
