Hello,
I am a 31-year-old male, 170 cm tall, 74 kg, with a waist circumference of 75 cm, low body fat. I follow your General Strength and Conditioning program and maintain a relatively healthy diet.
My recent lipid-related labs are: Total cholesterol: 167 mg/dL. LDL-C: 100 mg/dL. HDL-C: 51 mg/dL. Triglycerides: 72 mg/dL. Non-HDL-C: 116 mg/dL. ApoB: 80 mg/dL. Lipoprotein(a): 139 nmol/L. I have no known cardiovascular disease. Blood pressure is normal. I do not smoke or drink.
What would you recommend given my Lp(a) number?
-
Continue lifestyle measures and try to lower LDL/ApoB further with diet and possibly supplements?
-
Start statin therapy in the near future to maximise the Lipid profile?
-
Obtain a coronary artery calcium (CAC) scan and use the result to guide treatment decisions?
-
Simply monitor risk factors and wait for the upcoming Lp(a)-lowering studies?
