Medium ISF to DL competition

Supposed to start week 13 of Medium ISF tomorrow. Going ok so far, fatigue a little high, so the timing of a pivot week lines up well.

Anyway, going to be doing a deadlift event in 10 weeks and was thinking I’d basically just re-run block 2 (with some different supplementals) and then block 13 and put deadlift first that testing week (lines up with the meet). Does that make sense?

Also, was debating swapping the tertiary squat movement (day 2, 3rd movement) for another DL movement (say higher rep RDLs) during block 2 and then peaking normally in block 3 (i.e., no swaps).

How wrong am I doing it?

I think most of these are fine,. However, I’d keep the squat movements as they are and reduce the volume of squats by ~half at 4-weeks out and down even further 2-weeks out.

Ok, sounds good:

  1. Rerun block 2 (weeks 7 through 12) with different supplemental variations but keep the exercises in the slots they are in (i.e. same number of squat/bench/DL movements)
  2. In block 3 weeks 13 and 14, squat volume half, weeks 15 and 16 squat volume a little lower (no increase in DL volume here, right) Thanks Jordan!

That is correct. Let me know how it goes!

Training was going and then, tested positive yesterday. Symptom wise somewhere between a cold and a flu.

Anyway, meet is Saturday, tested positive first Saturday, so I should meet the 5 day CDC quarantine guideline for then. I was supposed to test squat max today but wasn’t quite feeling up to it, so I essentially repeated day 1 of week 13 (low stress week), just to get some work in in my garage.

Questions:

  1. Is it safe for me (in terms of transmission to others) to compete on Saturday?

  2. My tentative training plan is to test bench on Tuesday if I’m feeling better or a low stress work out if I’m not. Reasonable?

  3. Thursday I was going to just warm up deadlift and do no other work in prep for meet Saturday. Reasonable?

Thanks again for the guidance and expertise!
