Meniscus injury rehab, second opinion.

Went to visit my local sports physiotherapist this morning to have a knee injury I sustained last September thats been dogging ever since me examined. By dogging, I mean squatting is becoming more and more painful every week. Given the nature of the injury (heavy side impact) his best diagnosis (physical exam, no MRI) was an injury to the meniscus. His advice in regard to training, lifting specifically, was to carry on as per usual and perhaps with a focus on more specific hamstring work to help stabilize the joint, and cut squat depth back to about a quarter to begin with, probably off pins, reduce the load and see how it progresses from there.

To my untrained eye, and knee, this would seem on the face of it like a reasonable plan, would you doctors agree?

Sounds like a reasonable starting plan, though I don’t think you need to do any special hamstring focused work, and If you reduce the load you may find that you don’t need to make significant changes with respect to depth.
