Moving on From Texas Method. What next?

Hi All,

New to the boards and I’ve really enjoyed reading/viewing all the material BBM has provided here and on YouTube. I would love your advice on moving on from the Texas Method. I have been on TM for much longer than I’d like to admit and after reading thoughts here and from others, I see that an RPE based program could be a good next step for me. That said I have actually made pretty decent gainzz on TM, but I am getting to the point where each training session is becoming a grind where I have to get super amped up to be able to get all my reps, especially on Intensity day. What I would like to do is, very soon, move to an RPE based program.

Would you recommend I move on to The Bridge 1.0? 12 Week Strength? Other? Here is a little info on me:

34 Years Old
6’0, 212 lbs
Been Training seriously for about 10 years between bro workout and Texas Method
Note: I have a pretty busy work schedule that has me on the road most weeks. I haven’t ever had a problem finding a solid gym in the cities I visit, but the travel and the job itself can lead to serious life stress that affects my training at times. One reason I was drawn to TM to begin with is that I could essentially get the bulk of my volume done on Monday, then travel Tuesday through the rest of the week, then get Intensity day in at home on Friday.
Goals: increase 1 RM in main lifts, enter a meet by end of 2019
Current e1RMs:
Squat: 450
Bench: 290
Deadlift: 500

I’d give The Bridge a run and see how you like it. If you like the style of programming, then I’d pick up The Bridge 3.0, 12 Week Strength, or one of the hypertrophy templates.

Yeah I’d give the Bridge 1.0 a go. I think it’s a great introduction to RPE, and will gradually introduce you to higher volume than TM.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to the change

Whatever you do I would front load the comp lifts at the beginning of the week since you have travel later in the week that way you can get the important stuff done first and then if you have time later in the week you can do variants. Congratulations on moving on from the Texas method. BBM methods are much more effective.
