Pain in knee when in Vajrasana pose when stretching quad

I have been experiencing pain or tightness in the knee in Vajrasana Pose. This is been going on years and really is only felt when in the Vairasana pose or when stretching the quad by grabbing my ankle behind my back. No other real issues with the knee. My questions are:

  1. Why tho’?
  2. What do?
  3. Should i be working on it? My yoga instructor said to keep practicing and the knee will eventually loosen up. But I wanted to check.
  1. Don’t know.

  2. You didn’t mention what any of the rest of your physical activity looks like. Do you perform any other activities that train the legs/quads, e.g., squatting, cycling, jumping activities? If you do, the dosage of those may need to be modified in case you are experiencing something like a quadriceps tendinopathy. If you don’t, you may want to introduce some targeted strength training to the area to build its capacity and tolerance for ranges of motion under load.

Thanks Dr. i can see my post is lacking information. I have run most all of your templates over the last 4-5 years except for the new one released in Q4 of 2021. I can follow the trail of quad tendinopathy. I am currently running Hyper ll after the BB template. I have definitely reduced the pain or uncomfortableness by using bodyweight only on my day 2 accessory squat. I think for unilateral work i might be improperly loading my weight on to that knee.
