Permanent deformation

I’m curious to know is there any evidence that supports claims ( that I hear very often ) that poor posture can cause permanent deformations of ones skeletal structure, like sitting in a slouched position for years can lead to kyphosis or using bad form while handling heavy loads for years can cause such deformations.

A friend claims that he has damaged his left shoulder while benching heavy when he was younger and even demonstrates reduced ROM on that side, he can reach all the way to his upper back with his right arm but can only go as far as his low back with his left arm. There was no actual trauma on the left shoulder, the whole thing sounds strange to me, has he built some sort of narative that he belives all this time or is there something more at play here ?

Thank you in advance.

That seems extremely unlikely.
