Hi BBM!
I have been following BBM for a few months now and I’m constantly impressed with the in-depth content y’all provide! This is my first post on this forum but I will surely have plenty more questions incoming.
I’ve run The Bridge 1.0, 3-Day Hypertrophy, and am currently running The Bridge 2.0. I would like to use week 8 of my current bridge as a pivot week instead of a low volume week before starting the 12 week strength template.
As far as overall structure, I’m assuming the movements would match that of the bridge with competition lifts substituted for other supplemental lifts, but what about volume? What are your recommendations for sets/reps/RPE on a pivot week?
Thanks,
Daniel
My bias is to create pivots that have similar volume but lower intensity and lower specificity (which also facilitates the decreased intensity). Let me give you an example of what this would look like.
Below is a very common way that I see squats programmed in powerlifting and strength training programs:
COMP: Squat w/belt x1@8, 75%x5x6
SDE: 2ct Pause Squat x1@8, x4@9, plus 2 down sets (load drop)
SPE: SSB Squat x8@6, x8@7, x8@8, plus 3 down sets (repeat)
Below is one of the ways that a pivot can be programmed after a microcycle that looks like the one above:
COMP: Squat x8@6, x8@7, x8@8, plus 2 down sets (repeat)
SPE: Leg Press/Pit Shark/Front Squat x10@6, x10@7, x10@8, plus 2 down sets (repeat)
GPE: Bulgarian Split Squats x12@6, x12@7, x12@8, plus 2 down sets (repeat)
You would then follow this theme of decreasing intensity while matching volume as closely as you can across the other movements.
