Hi, feel like I have just come around from a bad case of post-meet melancholy. The meet went great with prs in all lifts, ecpecially the deadlift (20kg pr). However in several weeks after the meet i have been feeling down and somewhat unmotivated for training. Is this something that just comes with competing, or am I a loner in this regard?
A large part of my motivation for training is health, both physical and psychological. So if compeeting can be a health detriment, even in the short term, I feel like this should be talked about.
Thanks for the post and nice job at your meet. That’s got to feel good! I have definitely experienced this after some of my meets. Whether or not this is widespread or not, my feeling is yes, but I have no way to prove that. Practically speaking, I wonder if you have some insight into what would get you excited about training right now?
I think what I am doing now is the right strategy. I am currently on week 7 on a new template (Hypertrophy I), and I feel like the excitement is starting to come back again - step by step. I think this has something to do with time passing, a novell stimulus and excitement about making progress again.
All in all, I am glad that I had a strategy for what I was going to do after the meet. Then I could just follow the plan, even though I wasnt feeling like training. I think maybe I will include a couple weeks of «fun traning» after my next meet to see how that goes.
