Programming for an overly weak novice

When looking at most of the programming, it seems that the templates are geared towards post-novice lifters. In the shop I don’t see any novice specific LP program, though it the Bridge 3.0 indicates it would be ok for newer lifters to run. Is this a case of “yeah, new guys could run this” or “this program would be optimal for a novice lifter”?

A bit about myself: 5’7 210lbs and if I had to guess BF % - I would say north of 30%. I’ve managed to cut down from 240lbs by being more active (got heavily into mountain biking) and reducing caloric intake (note: not calorie counting, just eating less and making better choices) but I want to add resistance training. I’ve lifted previously but my stats were pretty unremarkable (360 DL, 315 Squat, 205 bench) - this was 5 years, 3 knee surgeries (rugby is a hell of a sport), and a pulmonary embolism ago (from said knee surgeries). I’ve put on 60lbs+ of fluff and probably lost LBM from a very inactive lifestyle. At the moment, I doubt I could hit much more than the bar with any of the lifts. Its been over 5 years since I have used a barbell. With all this in mind, does something like the Bridge 3.0 make sense for me or would I be better suited with a different LP program? My plan was StrongLifts (the routine I originally used forever ago) prior to finding BBM from Alan’s channel. I’ll be getting the Master Template most likely, even if I don’t start with a program on it.

Hulkless,

We are currently developing our beginner template for this scenario. That being said, it is not a linear progression necessarily- as there are a number of issues with requiring that in an untrained population AND it’s a suboptimal programming model to begin with.

In any event, I would run the Bridge 1.0 (the free program) right now and start out with 2x/wk GPP. After that, you could consider re-running that program or moving on to something else you like!
