RPE: Am I doing it right?

Checking in that I’m applying the RPE method from the doc right. Here’s an example from a n x 7 @ RPE 6, 7, 8 set.

Warm up with the bar, pretty quick. maybe 20/30s between each:

45 x 7 x 3 or 4

My last time doing the n x 7’s my first working set was 230 x 7 @ RPE 6. So I figure I’ll be somewhere around there at the end of the warm up. So, short rests (just enough to swap out weights. Maybe 1m)

  • 95 x 7
  • 135 x 7
  • 170 x 7
  • 205 x 7

I felt pretty strong. Like that was an RPE 3…so for the first working set, went with 245

  • 245 x 7 @ 6
  • 255 x 7 @ 7
  • 265 x 7 @ 8
  • 265 x 7 @ 8

Looks to be right, provided the prescription was 7 @ 6, 7 @ 7, 7 @ 8, repeat 7 @ 8 x 1 set of 7.
