Secondary Deadlift

I am getting ready to run Strength III again after taking 5-6 weeks of pivot training using Hyper II as a guide. I am hoping to see my deadlift move as it has been stagnant for a while (close to a year).

I am asking for help in picking the secondary deadlift movement during the Developmental block. If I miss a DL, it is almost always from the floor. If I can break the floor more than by a couple of inches, I will almost always make the lift. Thus, I am thinking that DLs with bands or chains would not be as helpful. I often choose block pulls here, but am wondering if this is a good choice for the same reasons.

Would a sumo or snatch-grip DL make sense? Or simply a DL with no belt?

Thank you for your insights.

What have been your secondary DL choices throughout the whole program?

I am just starting my third time thru. I have used mid shin block pulls for developmental, then a mix of deficit, paused and stiff legged DLs for specialization and sports form.

While I don’t think any specific deadlift variant is necessary (or able) to ‘fix’ your sticking point, I do think that changing the variations you’re using is a reasonable choice to see how they work for you.
