Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help me out here.
Recently my shoulder has been clicking every time I move it in a pushing motion.
I’m not in any pain, but it’s annoying and worrying.
It’s just where your traps meet your shoulders, pretty much on the top and as close as you can get to not technically being your shoulder area anymore.
Sorry that I couldn’t be of more use here with details!
I had a slap tear about 7 years ago and even though I’ve kept mainly injury-free since then, this being with pushing motions especially overhead has got me stressing. Maybe I’m just hyper focusing on it, but it’s hard not to think of the worst-case scenario.
I understand your concerns. We have evidence demonstrating the occurrence of labral tears in shoulders in asymptomatic populations (no pain and no dysfunction). Typically these don’t necessitate alternative management beyond education and activity modification unless there is a traumatic scenario in which a bankart tear occurred due to anterior dislocation and resulting in issues like hill sach’s lesions. That’s to say, if this occurred seven years ago, has been labeled as a SLAP tear, my concern is low your situation would necessitate more than our usual approach to these sorts of issues outlined here: https://www.barbellmedicine.com/blog…ining-what-do/
There are other potentially related issues like consistent subluxation or dislocation of the shoulder but typically there is still a strong case for conservative management initially.
