Hi BBM,
I have found your videos and podcast to be extremely helpful. I had a question about popping sounds in one of my shoulders.
I am a male in my 30s and started a beginner strength training a few months ago. I had previously been doing only cardio and had not routinely lifted weights for around 5 years. Since beginning the strength training, I have had a popping sound in my right shoulder whenever I overhead press. There is a slight pop when I reach full extension and a louder pop when my arms return to the starting position. The popping occurs even when I do the overhead press motion without any weight (i.e., nothing in my hand). It does not hurt, it only occurs in my right shoulder, and it only occurs during the overhead pressing motion (e.g., it does not occur when bench pressing). This popping may have been happening for a while but I only really noticed it once I started doing multiple overhead press reps.
Is this something that would concern you? Anything you would recommend doing? Would you suggest having a medical professional evaluate it in person?
Thanks!
