Lately my left shoulder has been making a grinding/popping sound when I press. It’s not painful, but it causes some discomfort. It seems to only do it when I do work sets (lighter weight is fine).
Does this indicate I’m doing damage to my shoulder? Or is it probably fine as long as there’s no actual pain?
I’m 27. I’ve had this issue on and off over several years doing other activities, but have only been seriously training for a few months. I’ve experienced it most in the past week or two since the weights have been getting heavier on Novice LP. I’ve never had any trauma.
Gotcha. Overall, such perceptions don’t equate to “damaging tissue”. Zooming out a bit, have you familiarized yourself with RPE? If you start developing symptoms beyond noise in the area, I’d suggest regulating your fatigue levels accordingly and not chase numbers (making a blanket statement here and this may not apply to you).
Thanks for the responses. I’m coming to the end of the SSLP and have added the BBM Bench and Press plugin, which does more volume at a lower intensity, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m planning on switching to the Bridge 1.0 once my squat stops improving on LP. Thank you for the information.
