Would sleeping or taking a nap shortly after a training session help with recovery? Let’s say that the training session is composed of relatively heavy, barbell exercises, the time of day is arbitrary, and the trainee is not limited or otherwise affected by the time of day at which he or she is training (at least as perceived by him or her). Let’s also say that the trainee consumes the appropriate amount of protein, and any other supplements he or she would normally consume post-training, before sleeping.
I know that this may be a loaded question and may require more specific information regarding the many variables at play here, but I would love to hear your thoughts. Also, if there is any literature of which you know to which you’d like to direct me regarding this topic, please do so! Thanks so much for everything you guys do, and for offering this forum.
