Straps = less trap hypertrophy?

Do you think someone that uses straps / hooks during the deadlift would get less hypertrophy/ muscle activation in their back / traps than someone who uses their hands ?

I don’t see why that would be the case.

I used straps my first year or so deadlifting, and felt as though that’s the best period of trap hypertrophy I experienced, even though before I took BB training, I had been doing dumbell shrugs semi-regularly.

That’s a very subjective assessment, but, it’s my experience.
