I became aware of a powerlifting meet around the corner from me in 10 weeks. This will be my first competition. I’ve been lifting since I was 12, but became aware of BBM in 2019 and purchased the Beginners Template, which I have run every winter since, admittedly never to completion as my work as a small vegetable farm owner gets very busy starting in March, and had children back to back in 2020 and 2021. Regardless of the lack of consistency, this program has gotten me relatively strong, with my E1RM based on template calculations from this past weeks workout in block 2 of the program being as follows:
5’9" 35 year old male, currently weighing ~205, signed up for 90kg open
Squat: 456
Bench: 306
Deadlift: 508
I signed up for the competition with the main intent of staying motivated to continue training throughout the year. The kids are a little older now and I want to see how strong I can get while I still have some youth about me. I purchased the Strength 1 template to prep for the competition and get my bench up, but here’s my question: there are 10 weeks until the competition, but it’s a 13 week template, so in your professional opinion, what weeks of Strength 1 should I omit with the goal of peaking at the 10 week mark? Bonus question, what’s the best bang-for-your-buck IPF approved singlet? Thank you!
