Strength Training to Alleviate Sciatica

A friend who I’ve been working with is having sciatica symptoms (pain referral all the way down his right leg) and he responds well to deadlifts which I’ve convinced him to slip in to his training routine. He has a bodybuilding history and I’m working with him to correct his squat so as to benefit from the added hamstring, glute and back strengthening from the SS style. The question I have is whether or not the addition of posterior chain strength via deadlift and proper squatting, would alleviate or even eliminate sciatica issues?

We’ve seen lots of cases where people report their symptoms resolve with consistent training. It should also be noted that a lot of sciatica gets better on its own anyway.
