Strict Overhead Press shaking

Hello team,

Whenever I perform the strict overhead press at an RPE 8 or greater, my entire body shakes like an earthquake -it gets ridiculous at RPE 9 and 10- complete lower and upper body
I do not know if there is anything I can do about it, other than getting stronger at the movement itself with lower weights - I have no idea if performing other specific movements would help me with this or if it is just not worth it

It only occurs at the second half of the movement, when the bar is already over my head (first half is smooth)

To give a little bit more context - in case it is of any use as in core strength-:

  1. I deadlift 3x BW (79Kg)
  2. I squat almost 2,5 BW
  3. I have been performing the overhead press for around eight years nonstop - currently at 90 KG for 1 to 2 reps
  4. I make sure to squeeze my glutes when performing the movement I would love to have your take on this

Thank you very much for your continuous guidance through life

Do you have a video?

Hello Jordan,

I just uploaded a video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2lVy8-w84M0

Much appreciated

Looks pretty normal to me for a ~ RPE 8.5-9 set. I would have you hold each lock out for a beat longer just to make sure you finish every rep and not push your head so far forward- just press the bar overhead all the way to lockout. Still, no major concerns here at all.

Many thanks for your feedback!

This is very useful, as I will not be investing time in adding new exercises attempting to solve something which is not a major concern. I will make the adjustment you mentioned to the technique, and hold every rep a bit longer on each lock out

Much appreciated again!
