My wife is currently running one of your templates and we have question about decrepancy in the estimated RPEs generated by the calculator. Her demographics are as follows. 60 y/o female that has been training for 5 months. Her one meet produced a squat PR of 170.9 lb that was likely a 10 RPE. When I plug that into the calculator it estimates that she should be able to do a set of 5 at RPE of 8 with 138 lb. However in reality her 5 @ 8 is about 115 lbs. This results in a 17% descrepency. Any thoughts on how to explain this? Is the calculator less accurate based on gender, age, training experience???
Hi there, the calculator is definitely a guide, not a rule. I’d expect that this is due primarily to her training experience, not age or gender. As she trains more, this will get more accurate.
