Testing new 1rm

Hi BBM team so coming to the end of the 10 week powerbuilding 1 program and would just like to know how to go about testing my 1rm?

Thanks

Hi Cole,
We don’t recommend frequent testing of your 1RM, and I wouldn’t likely take the time to do that after this template, however you can use the plan in our free peaking template if this is something that matters to you at this time. Otherwise, I’d take a look at the changes in your rep work, RPE improvement, your singles at 8, and your e1RM as indications of progress.

Hi Leah,

I have been training for nearly two years now, and I am nearly done with running 12 Week Strength for the first time. Since I have never tested myself, I was planning on running week 13 with a test at the end of that week. Based on your answer above, let’s say that after this iteration of 12 WS I run the 7 week Hypertrophy followed by another iteration of 12 WS. At that point, I don’t think I would be interested in testing again so soon, so would I simply skip week 13 and move on to my next training block?

Hi Jeff,

Yes! You’ve got it. I think this first test and peak is a valuable training step and the template provides you a nice look at peaking and testing. But if you repeat it, I would not test again so soon.

Thanks Leah yeah I understand just at a point where I’ve made massive improvement in all my lifts squat, bench, OHP and deadlift as my e1rm is now way above my actual 1rm and would like to test thank you so much.
