Too early for 12 week strength?

Hey Docs,

Just wondering, is it a legitimate concern that switching to using a program like 12 week strength too early in one’s lifting career would cause future programming to suffer, perhaps due to lower volume? I am likely to have a lot of extra training resources this summer, and it seems like a great opportunity to run a program like 12 week strength. My concern is that if I am no longer able to easily do a 4 day program for a while after that, will the lesser volume/frequency of programs like the bridge be insufficient for further gains? Some background on me:

Male, 33 years old, 178lbs, 5’ 10"
Training history

  1. 1-2 years wasting time on SSLP, Texas Method, and other silly stuff
  2. Ran the bridge 1.0
  3. Currently on week 3 of the Bridge 3.0 Current 1@8’s
  4. Squat - 325 lbs
  5. Bench - 225 lbs
  6. Deadlift - 365 lbs Goals - 1RM performance on the main lifts. I am not currently planning on competing, but the performance on these lifts is what drives and motives me to train, for whatever reason.

In short, I’d like to run 12 week strength, but may not be able to run it again for a while afterwards. Is this problematic, and what templates/training modifications would you recommend afterwards?

Thanks!
Lee

Not really. Biggest thing predicting long term success is how much you enjoy your training.

I don’t think not being able to run the 12 WS again for awhile is a contraindication to running it the first time.
