So I’ve been doing boxing and weight training together for few months now. And I’m just wondering what would be the recommended planning and split? I do boxing three times a week and than includes lots of cardio and lots of plyometrics and bodyweight exercises. Things like jump squats, sprints, knee tucks, clapping push ups and other intense stuff. But I also try to hit the weight room 3 times a week as I’m doing NLP.
Should I workout first and then go to boxing, or box first and workout later at night? Or would it be acceptable to do boxing training one day and then weight training the next? My only worry is compounding fatigue and little time for recovery regardless of nutrition. What do?
We don’t have any stock recommendations for this specific application. That being said, I’m not sure that the optimal “boxing training plan” would be based around NLP and those calisthenics.
I would drop-kick NLP, start the bridge, eliminate the 3rd exercise on days 1 and 3, and replace the GPP work with boxing.
If boxing is more important than training, I’d do boxing first and RT after- if you have to do them on the same day. If it’s me, I’d just do them on different days. It sounds like you’re really new to both of these things so I think there are a lot of variables here that should be assessed and managed by a competent coach.

Hi Jordan,
You mentioned on a recent podcast that there is very little carryover from pure strength training (that lifts slowly) to sports that require velocity or explosive power due to the recruitment of different types of muscle fibres. If so what are the benefits of doing Bridge (or any strength program) in this context. These days, boxers, MMA fighters and sprinters are all pretty jacked. Apparently, they believe strength training helps their sports.
My opinion is that you should alternate 1 day of rest, 1 day of boxing, 1 day of rest, 1 day of strength training in the gym
