Quick question please. I am currently on week 7 of the 12 Week Strength Template. An Impromptu Vacation has come up that would be during Week 11. I will not have an opportunity to train while I am away, so I will have to take a whole week off. My thoughts are to just re-do Week 10 when I get back as it doesn’t seem to be too much volume, but being so close to testing, I am not sure. What say you?
FYI - I was planning on competing, but due to funds and time tables, I am going to wait to find a first meet next year. But I am interested to test my maxes as I have never done this before.
I would not have you take a week off and then come back and peak. If you have your heart set on testing I would have you either cut out week 8 and 9 of the 12WS or next week swap to one of the free peaking templates that way you test on the week before you leave on vacation. When you come back you can start up a new program, or restart the 12 week strength from week 1.
Thank you. That makes sense. Also, would you go to 4 day hyper trophy after since I have been doing 4 days lately? I ran the 3 day version before the 12W strength.
Couple more quick questions please. I have decided to test (mock Meet) in 3 weeks time. Which peaking template do you think would be best? I have never tested any maxes before. I have done SSLP, the bridge, 3 day hypertrophy, and most of the 12Wk Strength. Also, when I do this, I should wear a singlet correct? I hope to do my first meet next April or May. Let me know if you need more info.
Read the descriptions in the peaking templates at the top and see which one sounds most like you. If you really aren’t sure, you can just do the novice since it’s your first time peaking it sounds like. You don’t have to wear the singlet, but if you want to make the testing mirror a competition as much as possible, then it definitely wouldn’t hurt.
