A bit of background, I used to lift regularly in the past until COVID sent us working from home (I used the gym at work which is pretty well equipped). Anyway, after almost 2 yrs off, I set up a gym in my garage around end of Nov 2021. I ran the original bridge about 3 times before finally getting the low fatigue template. In that time, I’ve only missed one workout due to a snowboarding trip.
We have family road trip vacation coming up that will be almost 2 weeks where I’m not sure what kind of gym access I’ll have (potentially hotel style gyms with machines only). It will coincide with weeks 13 and 14 of the LISF 3-day template. What do you think would be the best I should do workout wise and nutrition wise. Should in just do what I can to maintain and continue with week 13 when we get back? Currently on maintenance averaging about 173-174lbs. Try to get around 150-170ish grams protein a day.
Nice job on the home gym and the consistency with your training. If you end up having access to a gym, I’d train as normally as possible. Upon returning home, you can pick what you’d like to do. Weeks 13 and 14 are pretty late in the template so if I weren’t able to train normally while on vacation, I’d probably just restart the template if you liked it and had good results. You could also switch if you were looking to try something new.
It sounds like you’ve made some solid strides in getting back into your fitness routine post-COVID. Props to you for setting up that home gym! When it comes to vacations, especially road trips, it’s definitely a challenge to stick to the same level of workout intensity.
Sounds like you’ve been really dedicated to your workouts! For your upcoming vacation, it’s great that you’re thinking ahead about staying on track. If the hotel gyms only have machines, try to focus on maintaining your routine as best as you can. You can do machine-based exercises to mimic your usual lifts.
The holidays can be such a mixed bag, right? I’m new on this forum, but it’s already been nice seeing that I’m not the only one feeling this way around this time of year. I’ve been trying to distract myself by planning for next year – maybe a trip or something.
