Week 8 Strength III Competition Bench Instructions

Competition bench Week 8 of strength 3 has the top set at essentially the same weight (2 pounds less at my current bench press amount). I did it, as prescribed, and had to really grind an RPE 10ish rep in the last set. Next week the instructions are the same with an additional set. Is this the intent?

The bench rx should look like this:

  • First, do a single @ RPE 8, which is ~ 92% of your 1RM
  • Then, do a triple @ RPE 9, which is ~ 86-89% of your 1RM
  • Then do 3 sets of 3 @ a lower weight, which should be ~ 85%/RPE 7-8
