Weight trainging for mma

Im currently helping a friend increase his basic strength values on the compound lifts he has 220 bench and 315 squat roughly. I intend on making him run the Texas method. Is there any particular recommendation you have with this(variation wise and other tid bits). I’ve advised him to avoid lifting on days he does mma training and if those days clash for him to lift first. Do you think he should take some time off mma training due to him not having seasons just for me to up his strength. Im currently rereading Practical programming so sorry if the question is somewhat repetitive

I do not think the Texas Method is a good program. I wrote about this here.

If your friend is doing MMA for recreation, I don’t think taking time off is necessary. It’s for fun and I would encourage continued participation.

Instead, his programming may look more like our General Strength and Conditioning 1 program when he’s rolling <3 x/wk, and using one of the Time Crunch programs when practicing more than that.
