when is it appropriate to shift to four day split?

Speaking in generals terms and not for just one individual ( or their personal issues Ie: scheduling) when is it the right time to switch from 3 day a week training to 4?

  • My assumption is that at some point in your training your volume will be to high to reasonable do the training 3 days a week and splitting the session into four days allows you to build more volume while staying sub 3 hours in the gym?
