2 Meets Within 30 Days Of Each Other: Advice?

Do I keep following the Novice Peaking Template if I have another meet within 30 days?

Should my expectations for the 2nd meet be to match my #'s on the first meet?

I’m performing in my first USPA powerlifting meet in 2 weeks. I’m following your Novice Peaking Template. My goal is simply to learn from the experience and hit as many lifts as I can.

In the next 30 days I’m competiting in a US Strength Lifting meet in Arizona. So I’ll be doing the Press!!

Kratos,

I probably wouldn’t peak for the first meet given you have another competition 30 days after. I also don’t think I’d plan to do a powerlifting meet 1 month before a strengthlifting meet either, given the different demands of both.

So, I’m not really sure how to advise you here. If pressed, I’d probably do something like this:

Week of PL meet- normal training on days 1 and 2, take off days 3 and 4. Do meet on weekend.

Then do the peaking template, but with the press…I guess.

I don’t know man. I really don’t like this setup at all.

Jordan,

Thanks for the fast reply. Yea, I know it’s a bad plan. But the Strength Lifting meet does not seem to visit the west coast very much. So I wanted to just experience a Strength Lifting meet while it’s close to California. Plus, I wanna support bringing back the Press to competition. It looks more interesting to watch than the Bench.

AFAIK there are regular Strength Lifting meets in Arizona and Washington so I’m not sure that time is of the essence here. That said, I don’t have any additional recommendations for you here. Sorry!
