Should I peak after running Powerlifting II?

I’m doing my first powerlifting meet in May! Planning to run Powerlifting II. Does that program have a peak built into it, pr should I do one after?

In other words, which of the following timelines makes more sense?:
13 weeks out, run Powerlifting II

or

16 weeks out, run Powerlifting II
3 weeks out, run Competition Peak: Novice

I am assuming Pl 2 is just like SL 2 but with bench in place of press. The description says these are the preferred meet prep template.

I am not familiar with the competition peak but I assuming the last week is your meet week to peak. Option 2 would have you testing just 3 weeks before the meet in that week 13 is your test day. The recovery cost and early taper probably isn’t best for meet prep and going all out on a RPE 10 single 3 weeks out could affect your ability to run the competition peak effectively. So If it is option 2 I would run something like power building 2 or 3 for 10 weeks with the competition peak as your last 3 weeks and start 13 weeks out.

PB3 is 14 weeks if you run the peak block. You test on week 14. So it is similar to running the 10 weeks of PB 3 then the competition peak.

So I would run PB3 14 weeks out, PL 2 13 weeks out, or PB 2 or 3 for 10 weeks then your competition peak. You don’t won’t an early taper and test just 3 weeks before the meet. A lot of experienced competition lifters say you want to only test about every 6 months.

I would say run PL 2 13 weeks out and week 13 is your meet.

The problem is you have 20 to 24 weeks. If it is 23 weeks you have a real good fit with running PB 2 or 3 without the peak for 10 weeks then 13 weeks for the PL2 to put you to the meet. If you have less you might need a 6 or 7 week program to fill the time between now and the meet if you use PL 2 13 weeks out. I wouldn’t advise tapering and testing just 3 weeks before a meet though. The recovery cost from your max single in week 13 is going to be kind of high and could after your 3 week peak.

I see! So the template does end in a taper and I don’t need to add one in with the peaking template. That answers my question, I’ll go with option one and figure out my training from today until January.
