I’ll be entering my first meet on June 22 and not sure what to do after that. I don’t know yet if I will plan another meet, depends how my first experience goes since I am almost 46 years old.
Would the original Hypertrophy 4-day template be a good choice? I do want to focus a bit more on conditioning and bringing up what I feel are weak areas.
Or would one of the several new templates be a good choice?
In general, a hypertrophy or less strength-specific template/program is a pretty good idea after a meet.
The new Powerbuilding 1&2 and Hypertrophy 1&2 templates fulfil this really well and I think the new templates are really awesome. But if you already have the legacy 4-Day hypertrophy template, it’s a solid option too.
Hope you enjoy your first meet - you should have a blast!
After your meet I would definitely…eat some pancakes first! Then, yes, good call to run a hypertrophy block. I’ve done that twice now after running the original 12 week strength (mock meet prep) and it’s good from a mental and physical standpoint to have something different. The workouts are shorter too! Good luck at your meet!
