Programming Suggestion: Did not get into the powerlifting meet.

As usual, my question require a bit of context…

I am just finishing up the Hypertrophy Template, and my original plan was to start the Strength Template this Monday in preparation for my first powerlifting meet in October. Then do two weeks of Hypertrophy (as suggested by Jordan), and then start the Press Template in preparation for the USSF Nationals.

The fly in the ointment is that the powerlifting meet was full before it was ever announced online, so the powerlifting meet in October is out. Options that I thought of so far:

  1. I could just run the Strength Template as planned and just max out at the gym, but I wonder if I would be needlessly peaking when I could be doing more development.

  2. Run the Development in the Strength Template two or three times (with a low stress in between), but swap out the supplementary lifts each time

  3. Fill the next 15 weeks (13-strength + 2-hypertrophy) with something else (Goals: squat/deadlift 500, get my bench up, Crush USSF Nationals )

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I’d probably just front-load with additional weeks from the hypertrophy template, then swap to the 12 week strength/press template once you’re 12 weeks out from your powerlifting or strengthlifting meet.
