The reps and intensity gives 5 to 8 reps @ REP 6 then to repeat for 1 set. Saying RPE can go to a 8/2.
To me, this reads as 2 sets But the template has spots to record 9 sets. how many sets am I suppose to do?

You do 2 sets,
The templates come from the same code(makro) foundation.
Some templates have a range of sets, like until @rpe9
