Hello everyone,
Looking for advice between these two programs. I’ve been away from training for a while and I own the beginner template that is no longer for sale.
Long story short, my life has not been conducive to allowing me to train regularly, to remedy that, I recently set up a rack, bench, and barbells etc… at home. I looked at the first week of the beginner program and it seems to need more specialized equipment.
Should I just continue with the old beginner template?

Welcome back. Happy to have you here 
If you already have the original Beginner Program, it will definitely work for where you’re at. That said, the second gen is an improvement and offers more options for different schedules, equipment preferences, and so on. I think if you’ve got the spare change, get the second generation for a fresh start. Otherwise, the original program is totally fine as well!

One more question, if I don’t have much access to dumbbells or machines, should I be able to sub exercises with barbells in the new beginner program?

Yes. In fact, there is a barbell-only program that you could swap DB’s and machines into if you want (or not).
