Curious fatty

32/M/5’10"/270lbs

Just started SS. My goal is to get somewhere between 15 and 20% bodyfat, and to maintain as much muscle mass is possible while on a caloric deficit.

Have meticulously logged my food intake for the past couple months, and after a rough start I’ve managed to consistently average 2,300 calories per day for the last 5 weeks. I’m aiming for 225g of protein and 60 to 70g of fat per day, with carb intake being the variable depending on how I feel and whether or not it’s a rest or work day.

Am I doing it right? Should I readjust total caloric intake by adjusting carbs and leaving my protein and fat intake pretty consistent, or simply follow the tables on the “To Be a Beast” article as written. Considering my current weight, for weight loss, the charts suggest I consume nearly 300g of protein, which I assume extends beyond the… level of maximum benefit, if that makes sense.

Also, with looking better naked being my goal, if I notice the caloric deficit is sizeable enough to significantly affect my strength progression, would I be better served to increase my food intake and slow my rate of weight loss?

Thanks

Dcemt,

I would adjust carbs and fat as needed to drive weight loss. I don’t think you should be worried about not making the most of your strength progression in the next 3 months, as in 10 years that won’t matter at all. I think your current programming will work (regardless of weight loss or gain) for 2-3 months, then you’ll have to start something different.
