Cycling General S&C with Powerbuilding 1

As always, thanks for the fantastic content you put out, it really makes a difference!

I’m coming to the end of my second run of the General S&C template: although strength progress has been slow, I’ve been able to improve my conditioning quite a bit and lose 4kg at a rate of 0.25-0.5kg per week most weeks. Prior to this I ran the legacy GPP Hypertrophy template, during which I also lost around 4kg. So I’m now 82kg at 186cm.

In the summer months I play a few non-contact sports and I don’t plan to compete in strength sports (so I’m not too bothered about 1RMs), but I do really enjoy lifting and I would like to make some progress in my S/B/D/P now it’s going into my off-season. My intention was to run Powerbuilding 1 while steadily gaining weight up to around 85kg or so and then reassess. Does that sound reasonable given my goals?

Additionally, at the end of my current run of General S&C I will be away travelling for 3 weeks and won’t be training. Would it be a good idea to run some/all phases of the beginner template before moving on to Powerbuilding 1 (or something else)?

Your plan sounds reasonable for sure. I would jump right into the PB I template when you return to training.
