Dear Doctors,

I took the Johnson and Johnson Covid vaccine two days ago and developed a fever overnight leading to body aches the next day making me miss a day of training. Is there any literature you can point me towards that explains why fever causes body aches? Having read and watched Austin’s pain stuff I feel body aches caused by fever might be a good example for pain to exist without any damage to the muscles.

FYI, the fever lasted only for a day and I feel normal now.

The symptoms you describe are the result of the systemic inflammatory response generated by immune system activation, since inflammation sensitizes tissue nociceptors.

I agree that this is a good example of “pain without damage”.
