Hypertrophy I Gen 2 Question

Good Morning,
(or afternoon or evening or whenever you are reading this)

I am looking ahead to run a Hypertrophy Program after I finish my current program. I am currently resistance training 4 days/week. I thought I’d go to Hypertrophy II which I already own to continue doing 4 days/week. However I also have Hyper I Gen 2 which appears I downloaded but haven’t ran yet.

Do you think running Hyper I Gen 2 would be a better option since it’s a newer template? Is there a Hyper II Gen 2 on its way?

Thank you.

Hey Brian,

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either. If it were me, I’d probably run Hypertrophy I Gen 2 if you want to lift 3x/wk, or Hypertrophy II if you want to lift 4x/wk. We may complete the update on Hypertrophy II before the end of the year, but it depends how testing goes.

Follow up question as I am about to start Hyper 1 Gen 2 today.
Block 1’s conditioning is less than what I’ve already been doing. Which is:
120min zone 2 and 60min zone 1 per week.
Should I stick with that or follow the template?

I’m not sure what you’ve been doing for conditioning or what your immediate goals are, so hard to say with confidence.

That said, I would generally advise people to follow the program as a default

Sorry I should have been more specific.
120min zone 2 and 60min zone 1 per week on C2 Rower
When I was lifting 4/days a week I broke this up by
Wednesday 60min Zone 2
Friday 30min Zone 2
Saturday 30min Zone 2
Sunday 60min Zone 1
Though now I am only going to be lifting 3 days per week I was thinking
45 min Zone 2 Tuesday, Thurs, Sat
45 min Zone 1 Sun

I don’t see a big enough difference between the program’s recommendations and your current training to have a firm opinion.

If you want to keep doing what you’re doing, that’s totally fine. Only thing I feel strongly about is doing the HIIT that shows up later in the program. Do that, for sure.
