I’ve completed the Bridge 3.0 while on a pretty aggressive cut and I’m pretty pleased with the results. I’m now planning my next training cycle.
I purchased Hypertrophy I in advance assuming that’s the template I’d be using, but I’m wondering if I’d be better off jumping to Hypertrophy II. The guidance for choosing Hypertrophy I says you only need 3 months of barbell experience, but at this point I’ve been doing heavy barbell training for well over a year, plus I ran a 14-week non-BBM hypertrophy program about 8 months ago that I did not plan particularly well.
I can train four days a week in a pretty well-equipped powerlifting gym - they have quite a few isolation machines and most importantly a belt squat machine.
Longer term, I’d like to be able to compete for the first time in April or May. I don’t think that would leave me with enough time to do both Hypertrophy I and II and then jump back into a strength program in preparation for the meet.
You could do either. I think in this situation I’d just do the Hypertrophy I template for the rest of 2019 and then a strength template to guide you into the meet.
The template says to do 25 min steady state cardio 2x a week. Since I’ve been doing HIIT sprints as prescribed by Bridge 3.0 along with 30 mins a week steady state cardio, would it make more sense to carry that over since I’ve already developed the work capacity? Same with the arm work - would I get better results if I kept the Bridge 3.0 programming and did 5x sets of curls and pushdowns?
