Hi all,
I’m a 47-year-old male who has been training for over seven years. 17 days ago, I noticed some tightness near the low back or even tail bone area after completing a set of squats. It went away shortly thereafter. Since then, this tightness has reoccurred at least daily, every night when I wake up and get out of bed, and occasionally during the day when sitting or standing incorrectly. The nighttime events can be especially painful. I have continued to train and have had little to no pain during training itself. I thought it would run its course, but it seems to be the same or getting a little worse. I appreciate any suggestions.
Unfortunately it’s quite hard to say what could be going on here. If our usual recommendations for managing pain in training don’t result in progress, and it does not resolve on its own with time, then consulting with a healthcare professional (whether someone local to you, or someone from our rehab team) would be the next best step.
