Press substitue due to arthritis.

I will be starting the 12 week strength template in 2 weeks. I have arthritis in both shoulders and am looking to either substitute the press or omit the exercise completely. I have no issues with the flat or incline bench. I have tried different press variations such as dumbbells, landmine and machine but always feel pain. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It seems odd that you can incline bench without issues, but a landmine press causes problems, since they’re fairly similar.

Pin presses would be another option.

I should have been more descriptive when I said incline bench, I am able to perform a low incline, 15-20 degree angle, anything close to a 45 degree angle produces pain. I should have been more concise with my question, what I am asking is should I substitute the press with a low incline press or do nothing in place of the press because the bench is worked on days 2, 3 and for with regularity. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks

If you can’t find any pressing variation that you can tolerate, no one is forcing you to do it. It’s just an uncommon scenario in general, as we’re often able to find something that’s tolerable - even if it requires the use of very low loads at first.

I will try that route with minimal resistance, Thank you
